Study: Israel, Pfizer Knew of COVID-19 Vaccine Cardiac Risks Before Public Disclosure
A peer-reviewed study published in
EXCLI Journal reviewed 531 Israeli
Ministry of Health (MOH) hospitalization records and 67 deaths from March 2021 to May 2022, reporting that Pfizer and the MOH were aware of a cardiac safety signal in early 2021 but did not alert physicians or the public for roughly three to four months, according to the study.
Israel's Ministry of Health alerted health authorities on both sides of the Atlantic on Feb. 28, 2021, to an emerging cardiac safety signal following injection with the Pfizer Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, according to Brownstone Institute reporting
[1]. The warning came just over two months after Israel launched one of the world's fastest vaccination campaigns
[1]. Internal records reviewed in the study described myocarditis in young patients, including deaths under age 50.
Study Findings on Heart Injuries
Myocarditis or pericarditis was recorded in 250 of 531 hospitalization records, or 47.1%, and in 151 of 211 records, or 71.6%, of patients under 30, according to the study. Among 211 patients under 30, 134 had no meaningful medical history, and 99 of those were diagnosed with myocarditis or pericarditis, most of them male.
Two myocarditis-related deaths under 50 involved a 22-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man, and 48 patients under 18 had myocarditis or pericarditis, the study stated. Reported onset occurred within days to weeks of vaccination, according to the study.
U.S. military researchers had previously described 23 cases of myocarditis in healthy service members who developed the condition within four days of receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, according to a study published June 29 in
JAMA Cardiology [2]. A separate study published in
Pediatrics also reported seven boys aged 14 to 19 hospitalized with heart inflammation within four days of a second Pfizer dose
[3].
Pfizer Reports and Delayed Public Warnings
Pfizer received nine reports of deaths and hospitalizations between March 2021 and May 2022, according to the study. The first report, dated March 25, 2021, included information on 157 hospitalizations and 46 deaths. Israel alerted the U.S.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other authorities on Feb. 28, 2021, about approximately 40 myocarditis cases; that information became public only in February 2023 after a Children's Health Defense Freedom of Information Act request
[1].
On April 26, 2021, the CDC and the
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) denied that safety signals existed for myocarditis, and the CDC recommended on May 28, 2021, that clinicians report all cases. Documents obtained by Children's Health Defense through a FOIA request to the CDC, along with documents leaked to Project Veritas, indicated that Pfizer and the CDC withheld evidence that COVID-19 vaccinations were causing myocarditis
[4]. In the U.S., the CDC is reviewing cases of myocarditis in young people, more often in males, more often following dose two and within four days of vaccination with Pfizer or Moderna
[5].
Advocates and Researchers Respond
Karl Jablonowski, Ph.D., senior research scientist for Children's Health Defense, said none of the myocarditis deaths appear in VAERS even though Pfizer was obligated to report them. "The bereaved and the injured are owed an answer," Jablonowski said.
Steve Kirsch, founder of the Vaccine Safety Research Foundation, said the study is significant because it uses internal government data and shows that the MOH "was clearly more interested in protecting the manufacturers than the public." Dr. Jane Orient, executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, said, "I don't think Israel is an outlier. Pharmaceutical companies, public health authorities, organized medicine and academics worldwide have performed shamefully and betrayed our trust."
Dataset Revisions and Remaining Questions
The study stated the MOH dataset was revised several times, with added clinical information, revised diagnoses and dates, and omitted records. A death report present in the October 2021 dataset was no longer present in the December or later versions, according to the study. The dataset contained no methodological documentation or formal audit trail, the study stated.
A leaked video recording revealed that researchers in June 2022 shared data with the MOH showing serious and long-term side effects associated with Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, but Israeli health officials told the public in an August report that serious side effects were "rare" and short-term
[6]. Internal Pfizer documents reviewed by DailyClout showed the company was studying myocarditis in children a month before the FDA authorized COVID-19 shots for kids ages five to 11, even as the CDC promoted the vaccines as "safe and effective" for that age group
[7].
Conclusion
The study authors suggested the delay in disclosure "may have had implications for clinical awareness and informed decision-making." Epidemiologist M. Nathaniel Mead, Ph.D., said informed consent should have included an age-and-sex-specific warning so patients could delay a second dose or choose differently.
Kirsch said no one was fired and no pro-vaccine U.S. doctor expressed outrage over the suppression of Israeli safety data. Orient said the findings support suspension and withdrawal of mRNA vaccines and that questions remain unanswered. The episode adds to a documented pattern in which health officials and vaccine makers have declared deaths and injuries following COVID-19 vaccinations to be unrelated coincidences, a pattern that critics say deprives people of information needed to make informed decisions
